The Atlantis has long been considered the flagship resort of the Bahamas. Now with the opening of the $3.5 billon dollar Baha Mar coming soon many are wonder what are the differences between the two mega resorts. We have pulled together some helpful comparisons of the two places.
|General Overview||The Atlantis is a 3,414 room resort consisting of 5 categories of hotels as well as the Harborside at Atlantis vacation ownership and the exclusive One & Only Ocean Club. Rooms range from the moderately priced to the ultra exclusive.||The Baha Mar is consists of more than 2,900 rooms from different hotel brands including the Baha Mar Casino & Hotel, the Grand Hyatt, the Rosewood Hotel and the All Inclusive Melia at Baha Mar. The Baha Mar will also have a variety of room options from the moderately priced to the ultra high end.|
|Casino||The Atlantis casino will soon become the second largest casino in the Caribbean with Baha Mar soon to over take it. The Atlantis features table games, slots and a newly renovated sports book. Gaming is also available outdoors at the Cove.||The Baha Mar Casino & Hotel will feature the largest casino in the Caribbean. The casino has a complete array of slots, table games and a sports book. The Baha Mar claims that its casino will be “and one of the most discreetly opulent and sophisticated to be found anywhere in the world.”|
|Restaurants||The Atlantis has several gourmet restaurants from award winning chefs Bobby Flay, Jean-George and Nobu. There are also plenty of kid friendly dinning options like Johnny Rockets and Carmines.||There is still limited information on the restaurants at Baha Mar, but they will have over 40 restaurants, bars and lounges.|
|Distance to the Airport||The Atlantis is about a 30 to 45 minute car ride from Nassau International Airport depending on traffic.||The Baha Mar is located on Nassau’s cable beach and is only about 10 to 15 minutes from the airport depending on traffic.|
|Family Options||Atlantis has a wide variety of options for families including a full waterpark Aquaventure that includes a lazy river like no other, waterslides and the Current. The marine life featured in the resorts private aquariums will keep kids entertained all day long.||The Baha Mar is a fine resort for family’s, but is definitely catering to the higher end and couple’s market than a place for kids.|
